Presenter registration for the 2026 festival opens spring 2026!

Thank you to the 450+ registered presenters and STEAM professionals who helped make the 2025 Wisconsin Science Festival an unforgettable celebration of curiosity and discovery! Stay tuned for more details on the 2026 festival.

General volunteering opportunities are available below. If you are interested in participating with the festival by hosting your own event, please visit our event host page for submission instructions!

Official volunteer registration for the 16th annual Wisconsin Science Festival opens summer 2026!

If you are looking to register as a general festival volunteer (individual or group) registration information will be available in summer of 2026. Each individual looking to volunteer will need to register for a shift! Account creation and approval is required prior to registering for expo volunteer shifts.

2026 Available hands-on expo shifts (limited spots available):

Date TBD – Science on the Square (Downtown Madison): 4:30-7:00pm & 6:45-9:15pm

Date TBD – Field Trip Expo (Discovery Building): 9:00-11:15am & 11:00-1:45pm

Why volunteer?

  • Network with other volunteers and UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students

Who can volunteer?

Anyone! Science expert or not, new volunteers are always welcome!

  • High school and college students (must be at least 16 years of age)
  • Adults
  • Families
  • Corporate and Community Groups

Build a team! Volunteering can be more fun with a friend – let us know if you are volunteering as a group and we will do our best to ensure you can work together. Group opportunities are excellent team building experiences that help you connect with the community.

What do volunteers do at the festival?

You can choose how you want to engage. Options include:

  • Welcoming visitors
  • Answering questions
  • Running programs and experiments
  • Assisting with volunteer management
  • Prepping for the festival
  • and more!

If you are a new volunteer, you will need to create a volunteer profile using our volunteer management tool called CERVIS. While our official sign-up form is not yet open, you are welcome to fill out our volunteer interest form to be notified when registration becomes available.
