The University of Wisconsin–Madison invites you to a celebration event in recognition of Francis Halzen, recipient of the 2026 Nobel Prize in physics, on Friday, October 23, from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Memorial Union.
Halzen, a UW–Madison professor of physics, will participate in a fireside chat with interim Chancellor Eric Wilcots. He will then be joined by IceCube experts Albrecht Karle, UW–Madison professor of physics and associate director for science and instrumentation at IceCube; Lu Lu, UW–Madison associate professor of physics; and Terry Benson, director of the UW Physical Sciences Lab, for a panel discussion moderated by Dan Hooper, director of the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center. The discussion will include an opportunity for questions from the audience. A reception will follow the fireside chat and panel.
The event is free and open to all members of our campus community. An RSVP is requested to help us anticipate attendance. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; an RSVP does not guarantee seating.
