DESCRIPTION:Want a great way to see all Devil’s Lake has to offer? Join the Friends of Devil’s Lake\, Devil’s Lake State Park Naturalist\, and the Ice Age Trail Alliance Baraboo Hills / Heritage Chapter to hike the Devil’s Lake Segment! \nOn this hike\, you’ll hike about 10 miles of the Ice Age Trail. Meet at the Nature Center and start the hike with the West Bluff\, working east. This hike is difficult – attendees will be hiking up and down bluffs\, walking on uneven ground\, and up and down staircases. \nPack a lunch and bring some snacks and plenty of water. You will have a chance to fill up water bottles at both the North and South Shore Day use areas. We’ll stop for lunch and make snack stops\, too. \nIf you’re up for an adventure\, this is the hike for you! This hike is best for adults and teenagers. \nThis is an official Mammoth Hike Challenge event! Earn the miles on the hike\, along with 5 bonus miles. After the hike\, join us at the Tumbled Rock Brewery for an Ice Age Trail hiker meet-up! Look for the Friends of Devil’s Lake banner. \nEven if you don’t join the hike\, you’re invited to join us at the brewery for a beverage and conversation about being an IAT thru-hiker.

DESCRIPTION:Meet one of our youth services librarians at Cushing Park (600 N. Cushing Park Rd) at 10:00 am on October 15. We’ll go on a 30 minute hike on the Ice Age Trail and do a BioBlitz as we go. It’s recommended that you download the iNaturalist app before attending if you want to practice using the app for your observations\, but this is not required. The hike is stroller accessible; be aware that some of the paths are gravel. Take home a backyard identification guide for some local animals. Check our Facebook page for any updates due to inclement weather\, or register for the event to get notification of any changes. DESCRIPTION:Journalers are encouraged to spend time documenting what they observe. Basic supplies of a simple journal\, colored pencils\, watercolor paint and paper will be available. Participants are welcome to bring their own journal and supplies if they wish. Bald Bluff Trail\, east side of Hwy H\, just north of intersection with Young Road. No bathroom available. \nWe will hike a total of one mile\, half up hill to Bald Bluff\, and is a rough\, gravel trail to watch for migrating hawks and enjoy fall colors.  Mileage counts towards the Ice Age Trail’s Mammoth Hike Challenge.  Meet just north of the intersection with Young Road  on the east side of Hwy H.

Youth will spend the day exploring outside through a variety of activities including possibly prairie adventures\, canoeing\, fishing\, fort building\, snowshoeing\, sledding\, and more! Activities will be based on weather and time of year. A snack will be provided. Please pack an extra pair of clothes\, weather appropriate clothes\, closed toed shoes\, and a lunch. Lunch will not be provided. DESCRIPTION:There’s a tiny endangered neighbor living in Wisconsin—and you might walk right past one without ever knowing it. \nMeet the rusty patched bumble bee\, one of Wisconsin’s native bumble bees and the first bumble bee species in the United States to receive federal protection under the Endangered Species Act. \nThen head outside and explore the kind of world a bumble bee needs. \nAt Treinen Farm in Lodi\, Wisconsin\, our 2026 corn maze theme\, The Birds and the Bees\, takes guests into the wonderfully strange science of pollination\, reproduction\, biodiversity\, birds\, bees\, and the many ways living things depend on one another. \nBeyond the corn maze\, explore our restored prairie and oak savanna and look more closely at the flowers\, insects\, birds\, and habitats around you. Why do native flowers matter? Where do bumble bees spend the winter? What does a bee need besides flowers? And just what is that “rusty patch\,” anyway? \nCome get lost in the maze—and leave looking at the little things around you differently. \nWho: All ages are welcome. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.\nAdmission: Regular Treinen Farm admission applies.
