DESCRIPTION:Dive into a hands-on ocean science adventure with The Calista Initiative! \nKids and families will explore the fascinating science of the underwater world through interactive experiments\, real-world exploration concepts\, and guided discovery activities inspired by scubas diving and marine science. \nParticipants will investigate buoyancy\, density\, pressure\, ecosystems\, adaptation\, and ocean exploration while building floating clay boats\, experimenting with Cartesian divers\, and discovering how scientists and divers explore the sea. \nDesigned to spark curiosity and confidence\, this experience encourages participants to think like explorers\, engineers\, and marine scientists while learning through observation\, experimentation\, and teamwork. \nHosted by The Calista Initiative in Green Bay\, WI. \nThis is a family-friendly\, hands-on science experience ideal for elementary and middle-school age students. No swimming or scuba experience required. \nSpace is limited to 20 participants to ensure a highly interactive hands-on experience. Additional sessions may be added based on community interest and registration demand.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as we turn the library into the sci-brary. Engage in a variety of hands-on science activites presented by local scientists and sci-thuiasts. All ages are welcome. Hands-on activities are geared for ages 5 – 13. \nProgram will run from approximately 10:30am – Noon. This is a drop-in program. \nNo registration required. While activities are ideal for ages 5 and up\, all ages are welcome. A parent\, caregiver\, or responsible older child must be within sight and sound of children under 9. \nThis program will be held inside the library in the Shattuck Room. \nEveryone is welcome. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tour of the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom\, the Rhinelander School District’s outdoor education and recreation center! CAVOC fosters environmental stewardship and lifelong learning through a dynamic outdoor curriculum. It combines structured and unstructured activities\, expert-led experiences\, and interdisciplinary teaching to develop socially and environmentally responsible citizens. Community engagement is core to its mission\, with programs like trail access\, lodge rentals\, and a Challenge Ropes Course encouraging collaboration and shared responsibility for the environment. \nParticipants will see the CAVOC lodge and grounds\, which includes the inside of the lodge itself (Great Room\, Rominsky Room\, Lu Berndt Classroom\, Animal Museum\, and Creation Lab). We will walk to the Long Lake pier and also the Bog Walk trail. SUMMARY:Exploring Climate Solutions: The Superpowers of Street Trees
DESCRIPTION:How can a crabapple tree be a weapon in the fight against climate change? Stop by this booth at the Superior Downtown Farmer’s Market to try out some hands-on activities that help answer this question. Staff from the LEAF K-12 Forestry Education Program will be on hand with tools like infrared thermometers and carbon sequestration measurement tapes that marketgoers can use to explore the benefits of street trees. We will also have information and resources related to planting edible forests. There will be fun things to do for both children and adults! No registration is required for this drop-in exhibit. \nThis is one of a series of events offered by the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education at UW-Stevens Point in partnership with the Wisconsin Science Festival.
