DESCRIPTION:This is a free\, in-person talk hosted on October 3\, 2026 at 11:00 AM by Waupaca Area Public Library in Waupaca\, WI. There will be charcuterie boards for the audience to snack on during the presentation. No registration required. This talk will not be available virtually.\n\nBirds have captured every corner of our planet. Long before modern birds appeared\, some dinosaurs started to show feathers rather than scales. With the help of powerful X-rays\, we are trying to disentangle the chemical remains in some of the most iconic dino-bird fossils\, including the famous Archaeopteryx\, and what we can learn about the life of these amazing creatures.\n\nUwe Bergmann is a Professor in the Physics Department of UW-Madison. He specializes on the development and application of novel X-ray techniques based on the most powerful x-ray sources. He has studies ancient manuscripts including the Archimedes Palimpsest\, fossils\, water\, and how plants split water to produce the oxygen we breath.

SUMMARY:Science Extravaganza at Neenah Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we turn the library into the sci-brary. Engage in a variety of hands-on science activites presented by local scientists and sci-thuiasts. All ages are welcome. Hands-on activities are geared for ages 5 – 13. \nProgram will run from approximately 10:30am – Noon. This is a drop-in program. \nNo registration required. While activities are ideal for ages 5 and up\, all ages are welcome. A parent\, caregiver\, or responsible older child must be within sight and sound of children under 9. \nThis program will be held inside the library in the Shattuck Room. \nEveryone is welcome. If accommodations are needed to attend\, please contact the library administrative office at 920-886-6315 or by email at library@neenahlibrary.org at least 24 hours in advance of the program.
