John Vucetich of Michigan Technical University will give the Wolf Awareness Week keynote presentation at the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute, Northland College, Ashland, WI.

The United States Fish & Wildlife Service says it will announce in February 2024 a new decision about the status of wolves under the Endangered Species Act. That decision will be the latest in a series of decisions over the past two decades that have oscillated between affording and rescinding protections under the Endangered Species Act. The oscillations are primarily about Americans being unable to find sufficient agreement about how to answer the extraordinarily basic question, What is an Endangered Species? How we answer the question will shape our response to the biodiversity crisis in the broadest way.
