Schrödinger’s Cat and Other Thought Experiments Corn Maze

Thursday10/219:00 am - 10:00 pm

Friday10/229:00 am - 10:00 pm

Saturday10/239:00 am - 10:00 pm

Sunday10/249:00 am - 10:00 pm

Our 2021 fifteen acre corn maze features an adorable cat sitting in a box, as cats often do. Surrounding the cat are the mysteries of the quantum world, human identity, ethics, calculus and string theory. Our theme this year includes Schrödinger’s infamous, simultaneously-dead-and-alive cat, as well other classic thought experiments: Ship of Theseus, The Trolley Problem and Zeno’s Arrow. And the bonus String Theory Maze is extra-challenging.

Part art installation, part outdoor escape room, part social experiment, the Treinen Farm corn mazes are designed and cut by us right here at the farm. The maze has multiple levels of challenge, so whether you are a directionally challenged first-timer, or a veteran of our twisty trails and secret locations, you’ll have a great experience. We also have hiking trails, eighteen acres of pumpkins, farm animals, lots of picnic spots, adventure playgrounds and plenty of interesting outdoor activities for all ages.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE WISCONSIN SCIENCE FESTIVAL:

  • Saturday (10/23) 2:00-5:00pm – Explore the concepts behind Schrödinger’s famous thought experiment by playing…plinko? Join the UW-Madison department of physics for a chance to learn more about quantum superposition and interference, and maybe win some prizes, too!
  • LIVE MUSIC SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:
    • Saturday, 2:00 – 5:00PM – Love of Pi
Erika, Aditya and Praful are graduate students in the Math and Physics department from Finland and India. Similar to Pi, their music transcends cultures, languages and themes.
    • Sunday, 2:00 – 5:00PM – StevenTheButler
StevenTheButler is a folk project led by Michael, a Quantum Computing graduate student in the Physics department. Their music has lamenting lyrics and deep harmonies that grapples with difficult pasts intertwined with Americana instrumentation and vocalization.

We take the risks of COVID very seriously, so please check our website for current safety protocols. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended as we are limiting attendance to allow plenty of space for social distancing.
