Learn to identify the major minerals in Wisconsin’s state rock – red granite. This self-guided activity was developed for the rock wall at the entrance to Picnic Point, part of UW-Madison’s Lakeshore Nature Preserve, but can be used anywhere you can find red granite. WGNHS Staff will be present at the rock wall on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 11 to 1 to answer any questions about Wisconsin’s geology and identification of the rocks found in the wall.
