Free Outdoor Movies with the Madison Mallards

Back for its second year, join the Wisconsin Science Festival and Madison Mallards for a fantastic night of outdoor movie events featuring mesmerizing mushrooms and a world of wonder! Attend one or both of the below films. Blanket/grass seating will be available in front of vehicle parking section.

Before the lights go down, explore self-guided fungi displays and information presented by the Madison Mycological Society, plant disease expert Brian Hudelson and UW-Madison’s What’s Eating My Plants (WEMP).  Wisconsin mycology experts will be on hand before each film and can help identify any fungi you have discovered on your own (bring examples or photos if you’d like)! Visit these information stations near the concessions area on the field for your chance to win prizes!

Saturday (10/23)
4:30 p.m.  – Gates/Concessions open.
5:30 p.m. – Fantastic Fungi
7:15 p.m. – Gates open (Vehicles will need to leave field and re-enter if attending both films)
8:00 p.m. – Alice in Wonderland (2010 film)

• Cost is FREE and attendees will receive an official Wisconsin Science Festival pint glass (one per household while supplies last) as well as the chance to win other great prizes!

• Bathrooms and concessions will be available (masks encouraged when outside of vehicles).

• Gates and concessions open 1 hour prior to showtime.

• Movies will include captions.

Fantastic Fungi (2019): A consciousness-shifting film about the mycelium network that takes us on an immersive journey through time and scale into the magical earth beneath our feet, an underground network that can heal and save our planet. Through the eyes of renowned scientists and mycologists like Paul Stamets, best-selling authors like Michael Pollan, Eugenia Bone, Andrew Weil and others, we become aware of the beauty, intelligence and solutions that fungi kingdom offers in response to some of our most pressing medical, therapeutic, and environmental challenges.

Alice in Wonderland (2010): An American live-action/animated dark fantasy adventure film starring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Mia Wasikowska.
