Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage

Thursday10/2112:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Anne Marie McClellan will present “Thanks, Grandma: Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage” at UW-Eau Claire – Barron County. McClellan is co-president of the Chippewa Valley chapter of the League of Women Voters.

Women earned the right to vote nationwide in 1920 after a valiant and sometimes violent struggle. While many of us may be familiar with national leaders like Elizabeth Cady Stanton, McClellan will discuss more specifically suffragists of Wisconsin who were leaders during this long journey. She will include details about key moments of and contributors to the suffrage movement. She plans also to review recommended voter information sources that the LWV uses to encourage voter participation in a nonpartisan manner.
